Your readers may be interested to know that Peter Lobban, the chief executive of the Construction Industry Training Board has a salary of 拢214,775.
Mr Lobban is the highest paid chief executive of 12 Whitehall agencies, outstripping Sir Andrew Turnbull, the cabinet secretary, by 拢9,775 and the prime minister by 拢35,853!
Could somebody kindly explain the basis of Mr Lobban鈥檚 salary package and his accountability? After all, income received by CITB is levied as a taxation on our industry. There would appear to be no risk, or pressure, to compete or to provide shareholder value.
