The man chosen last week to head Liverpool鈥檚 regeneration and inward investment agency is likely to last only a year in the post, 精东影视 can reveal.

Jim Gill, chief executive of city centre regeneration body Liverpool Vision, was picked to head the new expanded agency, also called Liverpool Vision.

Gill, 59, said: 鈥淭he point I鈥檝e got to in my life I鈥檓 not going to be here in five years, but I鈥檒l be here for at least a year. The council may have to think about succession in 12 months, but hopefully by then they鈥檒l be in a stronger position to do that.鈥�

The appointment has been dubbed a 鈥渇ailure of recruitment鈥� by opposition councillors.

Joe Anderson, leader of the opposition Labour group, said: 鈥淛im can provide stability, but clearly this is a failure to get the man they wanted.鈥�
