Newcastle council is searching for a private developer to deliver the city鈥檚 housing exposition.

It wants to build 450 homes, as the focus of a three-month international exhibition 鈥� the first of its kind in the UK. Newcastle鈥檚 aim to use the expo as a launch pad for the construction of up to 1,800 dwellings on a 140 acre site in the Scotswood area of the city. The expo is designed to change peoples鈥� perceptions of the neighbourhood where the local housing market collapsed in the late 1990s.
