The Construction Clients Group will next week launch a free web-based tool to encourage more clients to embrace the principles of Rethinking Construction, the 1998 report on the industry by Sir John Egan.
Chris Morley, CCG鈥檚 executive director, said the web tool, called 鈥淭he Starter Charter鈥 would act as a starting point for clients when procuring construction projects.
Morley said that he was also looking to attract more infrequent clients to use the CCG鈥檚 charter. He said: 鈥淐onstruction may represent a relatively small proportion of their overall expenditure, but the construction outcomes can make the difference between success or failure of their core business.鈥

Postscript
The strategic forum is understood to be interested in signing up the Federation of Master Builders to launch an initiative aimed at improving communication with small and medium-sized contractors. The FMB would be likely to push for a seat on the forum, which it currently does not have.
