I don’t think that ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ gives enough weight to the personal commitment of Lord Coe to provide an athletics venue at the heart of the East End (¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ blog, 25 January)

In July 2005, he convinced the IOC that athletics - not football - could have a role in the moral and social improvement of East End children. Hence the stupid idea of building a stadium that could be demounted - so a small athletics facility rather than a big white elephant could exist in the heart of a new development.
