Dutch contractor HBG has maintained pole position in the contractors' monthly league.

HBG, which topped the table in May, repeated the feat thanks to eight contracts worth 拢56.4m, including a 拢13m biomedical centre for Liverpool University and an 拢11m office development in London.

Two contracts worth 拢54.3m enabled Australian firm Multiplex to steal second spot from troubled Ballast, which fell to 10th place.

Sir Robert McAlpine again topped the yearly table, but Bovis Lend Lease slipped from second to sixth, allowing Skanska, Kier, HBG and Balfour Beatty to move up a place each. HOK was again the leading architect and English Partnerships replaced the Ministry of Defence at the top of the client table.

How the tables work

To qualify for the tables, companies must have been identified on two or more projects fitting the criteria below in the past 12 months. Projects must:
  • be of precisely calculated or confirmed value
  • have reached the main contract stage
  • be valued at 拢1m or more
  • be in the UK.
Residential, civil engineering or overseas contracts are excluded. Student accommodation is included.
