HBG, which topped the table in May, repeated the feat thanks to eight contracts worth £56.4m, including a £13m biomedical centre for Liverpool University and an £11m office development in London.
Two contracts worth £54.3m enabled Australian firm Multiplex to steal second spot from troubled Ballast, which fell to 10th place.
Sir Robert McAlpine again topped the yearly table, but Bovis Lend Lease slipped from second to sixth, allowing Skanska, Kier, HBG and Balfour Beatty to move up a place each. HOK was again the leading architect and English Partnerships replaced the Ministry of Defence at the top of the client table.
