Australian contractor's White City retail project propels it to top spot for July and second place in yearly chart.
The Aussies have done us again. Not only is Antipodean contractor Multiplex rebuilding Wembley Stadium, but its 拢575m contract to build the Ian Ritchie-designed White City retail scheme in west London has catapulted it to the top of the monthly league table.

The deal also propelled Multiplex from nowhere to second in the annual league, putting it within spitting distance 鈥� well, 拢300m 鈥� of Bovis Lend Lease. Is it a coincidence that the UK's two leading contractors have Australian parents?

July marked a return to form for Kier, which slipped from first to 11th last month. A 拢65m retail scheme at Airport Road West in Belfast has secured it second place.

After months of lording it over the architects' league, Norman Foster was dethroned by Benoy, with six contracts worth 拢622.3m in all.
