In second is Jarvis, thanks to four contracts worth £208.8m, and Skanska takes bronze, also with four contracts worth £197m. Australian firm Multiplex signed three contracts, bringing in £182.3m.
HOK stormed to the top of the architects' annual table thanks to 11 contracts worth £581.3m, and Twijnstra Gudde UK, a Dutch-based practice, is a shock second place. The Ministry of Defence has taken over from supermarket giant J Sainsbury as the industry's top client.

To qualify for the tables, companies must have been identified on two or more projects fitting the criteria below in the past 12 months. Projects must:- be of precisely calculated or confirmed value
- have reached the main contract stage
- be valued at 1m or more
- be in the UK.
